外观特性与购买的天然集料有些不同,大部分废弃水泥混凝土再生集料表面孔隙较多且较粗糙,这主要是因为部分集料是由水泥砂浆包裹石子形成的。由于强化了加工细节,粗颗粒形状基本接近立方体且棱角分明,符合沥青混合料对集料外观的要求。

(2)孔隙率。从外观上看废弃水泥混凝土再生集料表面多孔,由于集料孔隙率的大小会影响沥青混合料中沥青与集料的黏附性,从而影响沥青混合料的水稳定性等路用性能,故本研究通过试验检测了废弃水泥混凝土再生粗集料的孔隙率。

数据可见废弃水泥混凝土再生集料的孔隙率比天然石灰岩粗集料大很多,其原因是再生粗集料表面附有水泥砂浆,水泥砂浆硬化后一般表面会密集分布很多细小的孔隙;同时,废弃水泥混凝土再生集料由于使用时间较长,部分已发生风化,产生了很多细微裂缝,而天然石灰岩粗集料中的孔隙仅仅是岩石本身的孔隙,其数量较少。
