Water damage is a major form of asphalt pavement diseases, and there are different degrees of water damage in asphalt pavement in various countries. This kind of damage is usually manifested by asphalt peeling off aggregate surface, loss of cohesive force of asphalt mixture, reduction of pavement strength and stability, accompanied by various diseases, which seriously affects the performance and durability of pavement. The spalling of asphalt from aggregate surface precedes other pavement diseases in some environments. It is one of the causes of other diseases. Therefore, preventing water damage and improving the water stability of asphalt mixtures have become more and more important. The water stability of asphalt mixture can be improved by material selection, mixture design, pavement structure design and construction. Among them, material selection is the basis. In many materials compatibility, adding only anti-stripping agent without changing the original design mix ratio is a simple and cost-effective measure.
